Svelte Alpacas.

Maddie - lost 4 kilos in five minutes
Maddie - svelte!
It is very hot and humid here, with very dry paddocks!  The rest of the girls were sheared last Sunday, and I think they were very happy about it.  Little Teagan and Melony had their ear-tags put in, so they would have been a bit sore :(
Anyway, I love how different the Alpacas look when their fleece comes off, and happily the shearer said that all of their fleece was very good (especially Harmony!!).

Lucky might be hiding a surprise - the shearer thinks she is pregnant!  She has waxy teats (and I thought she was just a bit tubby!), and certainly wasn't purchased pregnant!! I put her in with Eclipse over the last two nights and she spat him off...so we will have to wait and see - I will be contacting the breeder for info about the possible sire!  Lucky is the perfect 'background' Alpaca - very quite and shy, and never in photos!!

  3. Love the 'before and after' looks and know just how different they all look after shearing. They will be grateful for the haircut in that heat though. Shirley & Robbie

    1. Poor Allie has gotten herself sunburnt! She refuses to lie under the trees or go into the stable in the heat, instead she lies there in the sun baking herself! No amount of zinc cream will cover her - she is a big girl LOL (and we are wondering if she is possibly pregnant too - as she is spitting off Eclipse - or maybe she is just too sunburnt??).

  4. Very jealous of that lovely sunshine but not the dry paddocks! I guess we can't have everything can we?! Everyone looks very trim after their haircuts and a possible pregnancy uncovered too!

    1. Yes, the sunshine is lovely, but the paddocks are too dry which means I am supplementing the alpacas. Everything is 'crispy'! Luckily, we had some rain overnight (approx 5mls) so hopefully the paddocks will start greening up again :)
